Note: In respect of our client’s privacy, the homeowner’s name remains undisclosed.
Some homes are made for entertaining, and some are made for escaping. This one does both. On a quiet residential plot, Noble Parks and Pools created a complete garden retreat in which the swimming pool, the waterfall and the landscaping were designed as one connected space rather than separate features.
At the heart of the garden is a rectangular pool finished in glass mosaic, with a flowing dolphin-inspired design set into the pool floor. Along its edge, three sculpted stone fish rise from the paving. Beyond the pool, a multi-tiered rock waterfall spills into a natural-looking pond, framed by ferns, canna lilies, papyrus and palms. Stepping-stone paths wind through a manicured lawn, and a stone-clad base along the house walls ties the garden to the architecture.
What the Client Envisioned
The client wanted a garden that felt like a private resort, with a few clear priorities:
- A swimming pool with real character, not a plain blue rectangle.
- The soothing sound and sight of moving water.
- A lush, green setting that feels natural and mature.
- Easy movement between the house, the pool and the lawn.
- A secure, private compound where the family could relax without being seen from outside.
- A garden that stays beautiful with reasonable upkeep.
Challenges & Solutions
Combining a pool, a waterfall and a full landscape on one plot is a delicate balancing act. Each element has its own technical needs, from structure and plumbing to drainage and planting, and each has to look as though it belongs with the others. Our team planned the whole garden as a single design from the start, so every feature supports the rest.
The site also had to work with its surroundings. The compound is enclosed by high walls and has mature trees and palms, which meant working around shade, root systems and existing levels. The goal was a garden that feels natural and relaxed, with the engineering hidden out of sight.
Challenges:
Bringing a pool, a waterfall and a landscape together in one private compound meant solving several design and engineering problems at once. Below are some of the challenges we faced.
A pool, a water feature and a lawn can easily look like three separate projects. The challenge was to make them read as one garden, with matching colours, materials and a natural flow between each area.
A waterfall has to look as though it has always been part of the landscape. Rock placement, water flow, the height of each tier and the splash points all had to be controlled so it looks real and sounds soothing.
A waterfall and pond rely on constant recirculation. The pond and cascades had to be fully sealed and plumbed so water is not lost to leaks, splashing or evaporation.
A pattern laid in thousands of small tiles needs precision. Every piece had to be aligned and set so the design stays crisp and the finish holds up to constant water contact and pool chemicals.
Mature palms and boundary walls cast shade across parts of the garden. Grass and plants had to be chosen and positioned to thrive in a mix of sun and shade.
Guests and family needed to move comfortably between the house, pool, pond and lawn, without hard paving taking over the green space.
Solutions:
Each challenge was met with careful planning, skilled craftsmanship and the right materials, producing a garden that feels effortless and natural.
We planned the pool, waterfall and landscaping together, using a shared palette of blues, natural stone and greens. Matching paving, stone cladding and planting beds link each area to the next.
Our team shaped and placed natural-looking rock into a multi-tiered waterfall with several falls of different widths. This creates a layered, gentle flow into the pond below, with the sound of running water to match.
The pond and waterfall are fully waterproofed and fed by a dedicated pump and plumbing system. Water circulates continuously, with no waste and minimal topping up.
Our tilers laid a flowing dolphin-inspired design in several shades of blue, framed by a deep blue border tile. The result gives the pool a striking centrepiece that changes with the light.
We used ferns, canna lilies, papyrus, palms and ground cover that suit both the water’s edge and the shaded areas. A well-prepared lawn gives the garden a lush, even carpet of green.
Natural stone stepping pads set into the lawn guide movement from the house towards the pool. They keep the garden soft and green, and they look inviting.
Outcome
The finished garden has turned an ordinary compound into a private resort. From the lawn, the pool and waterfall form a single scene, with blue water, dark rock and green planting layered together. The sound of falling water adds a calm that makes the space feel far removed from the city.
The mosaic pool floor and the three sculpted stone fish give the pool a distinct identity, while the pond, planting and stone details soften the walls and paving. The garden is as enjoyable to look at from the house as it is to spend time in.
A Garden Built to Be Lived In
This project shows what is possible when pool design, water features and landscaping are treated as one job. Instead of adding features one at a time, the client received a finished environment where everything works together, from the paths underfoot to the waterfall in the corner.
Noble Parks and Pools has once again shown that a private garden can feel like a luxury escape. By combining skilled craftsmanship, quality materials and thoughtful planting, we created a space the family can enjoy every day, in every season.
With its mosaic pool, flowing waterfall, sculpted details and lush greenery, this garden is a calm and welcoming retreat. It is a lasting addition to the home, designed to grow more beautiful with time.
